Ehle wafa main naam hain, tanha Husayn ka
The owner of (steadfast) loyalty (to his Lord) is none other then Husayn
Paida hua na koi, na hoga Husayn sa
None has been nor will be born such as the likes of Husayn

Saabir the aysa shikwa na, laaya zubaan par x 2
Such a patient One that never did He utter a single complaint (at what befell Him)
Yeh dil yeh hosla hain, kaleja Husayn ka
Such was the steadfast heart/faith and heroic courage of Husayn

Maidaan-e-kaarzaar main, Allah re wo manzar x 2
O God, the (heartbreaking) sight on the battlefield (of Karbala)
Zainab talash kartethe, laasha Husayn ka
Wheras Lady Zainab was looking for the body of (her brother) Husayn

Woh na-muraad dilhe, jin main nahi gham-e-Husayn x 2
That (truly) is an unfortunate heart which doesnt grieve for Husayn
Zindaan dilo-main zindaan hain, sadma Husayn ka
(for surely) in the living heart forever resides the (endless) grief for Husain

Akber ke sine main jab, barchi lagithi x2
As the deadly spear struck the chest of Aliakbar (the youthful son of Husayn)
Andhera sa chaagaya, anhkhyo main Husayn ka
The eyesight of Husayn got blinded with darkness (of intense grief)

Zahra ke dilpe jaane, oos waqt kya guzri x2
Who knows what Zahra's (Husayn's mother) heart went through at that moment
Gaudi main aapki jab, kata sar Husayn ka
When her beloved Son's (Husayn's) head got dismembered in Her own lap

Rota hain khoon barwa, jad ki mazloomi par x2
The 12th Imam (Mahdi ajfs) sheds tears of blood for His oppressed forefather (refer to ziyarate Nahiya)
Mere waqt ke Imam lo, pursa Husayn ka
O beloved Imam of our time do accept (from us) heartfelt condolences for your (forefather) Husayn
