Salaamz, I wanted to know if tattos are allowed or if they are haraam because i have heard many different views and am not sure which is true. Some people say that if you get a tatto your wudhoo and ghussel are not valid, whilst others say that the ink goes under your skin so it is okay :? Not too sure which is right. Would appreciate your views..! Thanks in advance..!

In the ghaiba of our Imam there are only few persons whose views really matter, that is of our marjas and learned scholars. Assuming that most of us are muqalids of Ayatollah Sistani or at least revere to his rulings, his ruling on the subject is given below.
