As it's become a Norm to listen to music either while watching reels or shorts of YouTube which we know is not allowed in Islam can you please help us with the level of music whereby it becomes haram to listen to it.

Bismihi Taala

It is not permissible to listen to music which is suitable for haraam and amusement gatherings.

However, one should note the difference between hearing (سمع) and listening (استماع).

There is no problem in hearing، without intentionally paying attention to it. However, intentionally listening to and paying attention to, is not permissible.

For example, the music that is played in public places like malls, visitors waiting area etc. There is no problem in hearing it without paying attention to it, but intentionally listening to it and paying attention to it, is not permissible.
