Salaam alaykum,

1. If i have received used clothes from someone (hand me downs), and i have not used them yet as at my khums date, do i have to pay khums on it? is it considered as new clothes for me?

2. do we have to pay khums on perfumes that we have opened to use, but still has more then 50% of it left in the bottle as at the khums date. (considering the 50% perfume left may have a market value)

(jazakallah)

Salaamun Alaykum.

1. Yes, Khums is obligatory on items transferred to your ownership and are unused or remaining when Khums date arrives.

2. Khums is obligatory on items that have value.
