Salaam Alaykum

Over the past few years, on a google group called bethak, the community members have been told how the obligation of zakat has been ignored and unpaid by the community due to the obligation of zakat being restricted to some unpractical items by the Mujtahids who have more vested interest in collecting khums.

Attached is a small booklet prepared by one of bethak groups members.

Can you elaborate your opinion on this? I have attached the small booklet for your reference.

Here is what the author of the above booklet says:

The Treatise is already the answer to the traditional Ruling on the Zakaat which is impractical in compliance and defeats the divine purpose for aiding the poor and consequently no Zakaat is paid in an entire life time and the dues owed to the poor are usurped as a dutiful practice in the name of Jurisprudence.

As it happens, there are a few among the Group Members who communicate with me direct only for more information on Zakat, like how to estimate the past dues of Zakaat and those unpaid by their deceased parents in their entire life time. The Guidelines are being provided to them.
