S/alaykum.

My Mother needs to take some medicine for her Osteoperosis, it is in liquid form
and contains extracts from Shellfish, Crab and Lobster.
The label does not say what part of the crab / lobster or what percentage.

Please advise if this is allowed ?

salaam alikum.
Being a pharmacist i am interested in knowing wheter these components in a medicine are considered Halaal for consumption or not. If sheikh can also please shed some light on the presence of alcohol in some medicines (ocugh syrups typically).

Just my two cents worth, if sheikh says no to crab/lobster pls consider residronate or alendonate tabs (taken once weekly) very effective for treatment of osteoporosis.
