Bahrain: How Tanzanians can help

(bismillah)
(salam)

We have all received emails about the continuous atrocities and oppression ongoing in Bahrain. We have also witnessed the silence of the global media as if Bahrainis are less humans than the rest of us.

Further more we have witnessed that the 'Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' (khadimul haraamain sharifayn) - a title the 'Saudi kings' give themselves, is the foremost in sending an army of 'muslims' to massacre another population of Muslims. UAE has joined Saudi Arabia earnestly in this task.

And again, the world at large has been silent.

I am starting this thread to gather resources and information, which we Tanzanians can use to peacefully but sternly protest in whatever manner possible, depending on our resources and abilities.

The following are what is going to be covered in this thread:

1. Address of the Saudi Arabia Embassy in Dar es Salaam - so that we can send letters of protest and demand a withdrawal and trial of the military decision makers.
2. Address of the UAE Embassy in DSM for the same purpose
3. Telephone numbers and email address of the above two for the same purpose via phone calls and emails
4. Address, email and telephone of the Ministry of Foreign affairs of Tanzania - to demand that the ministry contact the Saudi and UAE ambassadors to demand and explanation and immediate withdrawal
5. Address and contacts of bodies like BAKWATA and other NGO's to demand that they look into this and demand the Minsitry of Foreign affairs to intervene
6. Contacts etc that can be used to plan a peaceful demonstration outside the Saudi embassy

Do share if you have any of the above contacts. Do also share ideas of what else can be done.

We need volunteers to draft sample letters/emails/questions & demands over the phone which can be posted here to assist all of us in writing the above.

Most importantly let us remember our brethren (muslim and non-muslim) around the world who are victims of oppression, especially in Bahrain.

If we raise our hands for dua after every prayer we would have prayed for them atleast 5 times a day!

Please post special duas that can be supplicated for the protection of the oppressed.

When the Isrealis bombed Gaza, all of us marched to the US embassy and complained.

Can we aim for the same here as well? let us write to bakwata asking for a united march by all muslims after friday prayers to the saudi embassy. If bakwata declines then we can still do it. Surely our shia community of thousands can put up a powerful demonstration.

I agree. All Muslims are united against this oppression.

Can someone draft a letter that can then be used by all of us to send to Bakwata?

Here are wordings from a petition at http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/104/118/727/
* Target: Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, King of Bahrain
* Sponsored by: Care2.com

The people of Bahrain have lived under the monarchic rule of their royal family for more than 200 years. Now, Bahrainis have taken to the streets to demand equal political and legal rights.

But government security forces have cracked down on protestors who've gathered peacefully in Pearl Square in the capitol of Manama. In the middle of the night, the police entered the square and opened fire on sleeping demonstrators.

Then, at the funerals for the protesters who'd been killed, security forces again opened fire on mourners from the ground and from helicopters.

These violent crackdowns are a violation of human rights and must end. The king must address the concerns of his people peacefully.

Sign this petition to show your support for the democratic aspirations of the Bahraini people and tell King Hamad ibn Isa Al-Khalifa to end the violent suppression of his people.

I received this in mail, for writing to humanitarian organisation
Your Name:
Your Address:

Name of Human Rights Organisation
Address

Date:

To whom it may concern:

I write in order to seek your urgent intervention and pro active condemnation of the blatant savagery being exhibited by the Government of Bahrain in response to what is nothing but legitimate protest and a desire for democratic reform. It is essential and imperative that the increasingly precarious situation in Bahrain gets the coverage and publicity it deserves.
The brave people of Bahrain have taken on the tremendous task of confronting a tyrannical undemocratic ruler and his despotic regime in a daring effort towards self-determination. Taking cues from the universally welcomed collapses of the illegitimate unpopular regimes in Tunisia and Egypt, the fearless citizens of Bahrain have come out to confront a dictatorship that is determined to arrogantly pretend that it faces an insurgency in order to stall the formation of a legitimate, honourable and democratic nation.
The violence and brutality exhibited by the Bahraini authorities cannot be denied or concealed from the outside world. I would request that you visit http://www.justiceforbahrain.com and see for yourself the crimes that are being perpetrated against protestors. Such levels of aggression are unprecedented. To quote the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navi Pillay; "There are reports of arbitrary arrests, killings, beatings of protesters and of medical personnel, and of the takeover of hospitals and medical centers by various security forces....this is shocking and illegal conduct."
I, urge you, a respected human rights organisation to:
1) Create awareness of and unequivocally condemn the barbaric actions of the Bahraini Government
2) Attend and organize protests and other means of opposition to the injustices that are being committed
3) Call for the immediate suspension of western aid to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain until Saudi Arabia and UAE withdraws their troops from Bahrain, and until the Bahraini government withdraws all local and foreign troops, respects its people's rights to peacefully assemble and protest, and allows for free and fair elections in the country
4) Call for the immediate suspension and revaluation of all arms trade of western countries with the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain
I would urge you, a respected human rights organisation, to take the lead in unilaterally condemning the suppression of legitimate protest, and proactively support the establishment of democracy wherever it is sought.
Yours Sincerely,

Re: Media Coverage – Bahrain

As a reputable, independent and objective media outlet, I write in order to urge you to give due coverage and attention to the blatant savagery being exhibited by the Government of Bahrain in response to what is nothing but legitimate protest and a desire for democratic reform. It is essential and imperative that the increasingly precarious situation in Bahrain gets the reporting and publicity it truly deserves. There can be no justification to treat the cries for democratic reform of the Bahraini people any differently to those of Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and elsewhere in the Arab world.

Inshallah I shall request someone who knows Sibtain bhai to speak to him to see how he can raise the issue at Bakwata level.

We need to send in this emails/sms's/letters in mass for it to make more effect. Any ideas on how we can mobilise family/friends to send emails from their own email accounts to ministries, embassies, ngo's and media houses?

Anyone who is a journalist? Any ideas how local media can be utilized to spread awareness?
